Stephen Dion
PRESIDENT
What do you do professionally?
I serve as the Client Relationship Consultant for Labor Affairs at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts. In my role I manage relationships with public and private sector unions and collaborate with internal stakeholders to prospect new business and retain accounts.
Tell us about yourself.
I grew up in Marshfield and graduated from MHS in 1991. I’m married with two children. My wife’s name is Andrea. My two kids are Mason (age 15) and Marisa (age 12). Both are in the Marshfield school system. I love the outdoors, specifically saltwater fishing.
How did you get involved with MEF?
Maria Bonzagni-Doherty invited me to attend an open meeting. After a few meetings and volunteering with the 5K I was hooked.
What is your role/responsibilities with MEF?
I’m currently serving as President; I was elected to the role in 2023. I’m active in all aspects of the Foundation.
What do you like about being involved in MEF?
I enjoy being part of a team that enhances the educational experience for our children and faculty.
What has been the highlight of your involvement with MEF?
Volunteering with the MEF has brought my family together. At any MEF event you will see one if not all of them lending a hand. My kids appreciate what the MEF does for the community and are proud to tell people they volunteer.
What is your favorite memory from your K-12 education?
Playing kickball with Mr. Brady at Daniel Webster. As a 5th grader you could only play in his game if you kept your grades up and behaved in class. I wasn’t always the best student or behaved, and he would let me know when I wasn’t applying myself. His tough love approach helped me understand you need to do the work to get the reward. Later on in life we reconnected. He owned a charter boat, and we shared the same passion for fishing. I was able to go out with him a few times, and I truly enjoyed his life lessons even as an adult.
